A group chat lives or dies on one question: do the characters sound different? The weak ones answer as a single blended voice with three names attached. In the nine below, a shy member mumbles, a leader hands out jobs, someone cracks a joke, and the reply label tells you who is speaking.
Casts range from two roommates to a twelve-strong military unit. Bigger is not automatically better: in our session the larger groups brought in a new speaker almost every reply, which is fun but busy. How group chats work, and how to build one, is covered in the group chat guide.
How we picked them
We used the Group Chats tag in Explore on 20 October 2026 and read it in Popular order across all time, month and week. Casts were removed if the title was explicit, if the plot involved family members, if a member was shown under 20, if the story leaned on non-consent or cheating, or if the creator's handle was explicit. We wrote two neutral lines into each remaining chat on the default model and counted how many distinct voices came back. One more cast fell out on a second, stricter read of its opening, so nine are left.
The list
Discord Friends
Group chat · by @animeftw
Three online friends you have played games with every night for three years, now all in the same voice channel.
Sora answered both times, eating noodles near midnight, and brought up a pact the group had been discussing, so a thread is waiting for you. Replies came in 8 seconds.
“Though technically we met three years ago.”
#2Queens of Battle!
Group chat · by @thesamuraidragon
You lead a multinational special operations team of twelve, with tank and early-warning aircraft support.
The largest cast on this list and it showed: one operator sized us up in the gym, the next was already at the map table laying out an intercept. Both replies took 12 seconds.
“The plan is a two-element intercept at the wadi mouth.”
#3Psychedelic Rain (J-Pop Group)
Group chat · by @kitsunecarnage
You manage a new J-Pop trio that sells out shows but cannot get along offstage.
Short replies with clearly different members: a shy one hiding behind her phone, a polished one reminding us about a fan meet at four. Office politics in miniature.
“I've been practicing my handshake routine all morning.”
#4The Band Girls Who Can’t Go Home
Group chat · by @jaxz09
A four-piece campus band plays its first bar gig and ends the night in an alley with nowhere to go.
Each member reacted in her own way: one waved far too hard, another hid behind a cat called Hex and admitted there is no plan. Messy, warm, funny.
“It's an active planning situation.”
#5Office Affairs
Group chat · by @rainydave
You join the IT team at an office where seven colleagues quietly watch the new hire.
One coworker teased about a betting pool, another shyly pointed us to the clicking router: two of the seven, two different temperatures. A slow, observant ensemble. If you want the office without the crowd, one-on-one workplace setups are listed separately.
“Looks like I owe Michelle five bucks.”
#6The Heroes Party
Group chat · by @dreameroftomorrow
A summoned hero sets off on a first dungeon run with a party of four.
A cat-folk scout sniffed at us and asked our plan; the mage then answered with a real briefing on cleared layers and active mana veins. Banter and tactics in the same exchange.
“You don't smell like a hero.”
#7Adventure Begins!
Group chat · by @lua
A falling piano ends your life, and you wake in a fantasy world with a party of misfits and a burned-out goddess.
The warden coolly reported that our magic was too loud; the mage insisted breakfast was part of the plan. Dry and silly side by side.
“Also breakfast. Breakfast is part of the plan.”
Dream Bunker
Group chat · by @oberondad
A zombie outbreak seals you and five neighbors inside the luxury bunker you built for a different apocalypse.
Cassandra took the floor with a Southern drawl and a single goal, a shower, then turned the question back to us as the person who built the place. Bracketed inner thoughts add a second layer. Good to know: there is some gore.
“Shower first, compliments later.”
#9The roommate mayhem
Group chat · by @daniduck
You sleep on the couch between two roommates who clash: a law student and a messy tattoo apprentice.
We walked straight into the fight about hidden notes and a mock trial in nine hours, while the other roommate muttered from the couch. Two voices is enough for a sitcom.
“The plan is that I have a mock trial in nine hours”
Likes and message counts are the public figures shown on OurDream on 20 October 2026. Portraits are the official cover when it is suitable, otherwise an illustration we generated on OurDream with a clothed prompt, or no image.
Open the Members section of the chat panel to see who is in the cast. Our messages to these groups ran on the default model like everything else that day, and our balance did not move. To build your own group, see the group chat guide.
FAQ
How do I find group chats?
In Explore, use the Group Chats tag; sorting by Popular then shows the most liked casts first.
How do I know who is talking?
Each reply starts with the speaking character's name. In bigger casts a different member may answer each time.
Is a bigger cast better?
Not always. Twelve members means variety but less depth per character; two roommates gave us the tightest scene. Another route to a big cast is a single storyteller voicing everyone, which is what our narrator bots do.
Do group chats cost more?
Not on the default model in our session: the coin balance stayed the same after all our messages.
